Muskogee, Okla. … Arthur Gooch,Oklmulgee (Okla) Butcher Boy who turned kidnapper, shown with Ben Bolton, Muskogee Chief of Police, after the boy had become the first person in the United States to be sentenced to hang under the Lindbergh kidnapping law. He was convicted in Federal court at Durant (Indian Territory) for the kidnapping of two Paris (Texas) officers and holding them captive for seventeen hours, Gooch was sentenced June 19th here by Federal Judge Rob. Williams, to be hanged at the Muskogee City-Federal jail, September 13. He will be the first person hanged in Oklahoma since its statehood.”
