Scope and Contents

Contre-Attaque: Union de Lutte des Intéllectuels Révolutionnaires Manifesto of the Contre-Attaque group of which Georges Bataille was the leading protagonist. 39 signatures including Roger Blin, Breton, Jacques Brunius, Eluard, Maurice Heine, Hugnet, Pierre Klossowski, Dora Maar, Péret and Tanguy. This manifesto is calling for political action against Hitlerism and the rising Fascism in France. An announcement of a Contre-Attaque meeting is included for January 21, 1936 at which speakers were to include Bataille, Breton and Heine, on the "Anniversaire de l'execution capitale de Louis XVI." (Bertram Rota Inventory 1974, Pg. 39)
