Printed on recto: "This photograph was taken by the undersigned in October 1890 at Okmulgee, capital of the Creek Indian Nation, in the old Indian Territory. It was taken with a No.2 Kodak, the first Kodak ever seen in that country. 'Otakeh' is a full blood Creek Indian-- one of very few in that locality. Most of the 'blood' was negro. The Indians were ruined by unflux of lazy whites and irresponsible negros."
