...Sacada del mismo tomo del Padre Bega. [Letter from Mr. Baron de Ripperdá Knight de Croix.]
The second manuscript, one of the most important extant for a knowledge of Texas in 1777, is opened by Ripperda to de Croix with: “My dear Sir: [Feniendo] to you an idea of the present state of this Province and my burden."
He then proceeds to a detailed relation of all the settlements in Texas with something of their past history, their foundation and the accomplishments during his regime which was so soon to end. (Places, events, etc.) Some of the settlements, events and aspects gone into with deep penetration are
