Scope and Contents
Sat. June 8th 1918. Mailed cotton bale to Elsie as a souvenir of the South. Wrote to Pape & Anna. Had 1st Sat. inspection at 10 A.M. Drilled 1 hour before retreat in [Co.] street. Washed clothes and went to Y.M.C.A.
Sun. June 9th 1918. Shower baths, woods, policed up, no mail, wrote 6 letters $ 6 postals home.
Mon. June 10th 1918. Got mail from May Lewry, Anna E & Papa. Wrote cards in reply and letter to May ". Worked in kitchen all day. Got 2nd inoculation & a stiff arm.
Tues. June 11th 1918. Got box of Loft's candy from Anna Eriksen. I mailed 3 cotton bales to M.L., A.C.E. & L.R.
Wed. June 12th 1918. Got box of A&S candy from May Lewry and letters from H. Johansen, & Papa & Freda. I was 1 out of 4 to stick in double quick time.
Thurs. June 13th 1918. Breakfast - drill - no mail.
Fri. " 14th 1918. [As usual]
Sat. " 15th 1918. Visited city of Augusta after inspection rode down by auto $0.25 and back by trolley for $0.05 with [Pvt] Miskinis. Visited soldiers club - [Treene] St. - had sodas and mailed 3 letters in town.
