The German artillery kept up a continous shellfire 1 landing every 20 seconds for 2 days and 1 night. We advanced through another barbed wire entanglement and dug into 150 yards of trenches and captured & connected them the German trenches. I stood guard (2) twice shivering in wet clothes and a flare light or 2 going up each minute almost all night and we thought we would be seen surely but luck was with us We retreated from this trench.
