Red, Red Lips of Countess Mog, 1959-07-28
Scope and Contents
Typed memo regarding Red, Red Lips of Countess Mog [unproduced film].
Culver City: Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, July 28, 1959. A typed Inter-Office Communication from Crandall Brown to Richard Maibaum regarding a 30 page teleplay by Irving Starr of Red, Red Lips Of Countess Mog by Karen De Wolf.
The memo states: In a European country centuries-old Castle Mog is regarded by the residents of a nearby village as a cursed place, inhabited by blood-sucking human vampires. The villagers also look with great fear upon very red-lipped Countess Mog, who has recently come to the castle to live. They believe she may be an "undead", that she's gotten her red lips by sucking blood, and that she's actually hundreds of years older than she pretends to be. As a result, no one in the village will work for her as a secretary and she is forced to advertise widely for someone to serve in this capacity ... This is effective and would fit into an anthology, and might also be worked into a "psychical investigator" series. By itself, however, it doesn't strongly suggest a series. Of the type, MGM's "Mark Of The Vampire" offers more promising material.
