Scope and Contents

Photo album containing 130 snapshot-style photographs. A small number of photos have been captioned. Overall, the album documents the sites and people encountered on an excursion train trip from Muskegon, Michigan north through Alberta Province in Canada and west to Washington Territory in the United States. Subjects include: Michigan Central Railroad Depot (Chicago); Hackley Memorial Library; Muskegon harbor; Lake & Woods Milling Company; Minnesota prairie homes and villages; Winnepeg; members of Canada's First Nations, their villages and cemetery; a group of Blackfeet Indians in the Northwest Territory; land, forest and mountain landscapes; a bison herd n the wild; silver miners at work; street views of Edmonton; a group photo of excursion members taken in Washington Territory; Puget Sound; Vancouver harbor; an iron war vessel; etc.

1 box : Photo album with faux leather board covers blind stamped with the name "George A. Brown". Inside are 130 B/W snapshot-style photographic prinits pasted onto heavy weight album pages. An additional 11 photos are laid in. The album's front cover has considerable water and mildew damage. ; Photo album measures 21.7 x 29.5 x 5 cm. Photos measure approximately 9.4 x 11.5 cm; orientation varies. 3 additional photos (laid in) measure approximately 11.5 x 18 cm.
