From the Collection:

Archive of annual industrial exposition based in Tulsa; includes executive correspondence, preparations materials, financial accounts, photographs, maps and artefacts.

The International Petroleum Exposition Archive is organized into eight Series: Series 1: Historical papers include the history of the IPE; a local, regional, and general history of the petroleum industry; the by-laws of the IPE. Series 2: Correspondence consisting of administrative and exhibitor related correspondence arranged alphabetically by correspondent, each of which is organized chronologically and divided into groups of "letters to" and "letters from". Series 3: Executive papers comprised of meeting minutes and related correspondence pertaining to the director and member director committees. Arranged chronologically within 2 groups: member directors and executive directors. Series 4: IPE preparations including publicity; local arrangements (contracted services, housing, etc.); social activities in conjunction with IPE; exhibitor's manuals and general information; membership and assorted clubs and organizations; Hall of Science; surveys; photographs; press cuttings. Publicity is arranged chronologically; local arrangements and social activities are arranged alphabetically by subject; Hall of Science is arranged chronologically. Photographs are organized into 4 groups: scenes from IPE; scenes from Hall of Science; group photos; miscellaneous. Series 5: IPE financial papers including audits; budgets; tax papers; lease agreements. Series 6: Miscellaneous consisting of material pertaining to conventions and expositions other than IPE; oil and gas journals; brochures. Series 7: Oversize consisting of photographs; artist's rendering of IPE exhibit area design; reproduction of a map of early oil and transportation. Series 8: Artifacts consisting of souvenir buttons and pins; ribbons; framed sample of the first manila rope used to drill oil wells near Lima, Ohio; drill core sample; commemorative sledge hammer.
