Handwritten and signed letter from Samuel W. Butler (Burlington, New Jersey physician, editor of New Jersey Medical Report and son of Dr. Elizur Butler, National Physican of the Cherokee Nation) to John Ross in regards to resolution by the Flint District Auxiliary Temperance Society requesting that the Principal Chief and Assistant Chief attend the Society's annual meeting in Fairfield. Also that George Chambers, Jess Russell, Walter L. Adair, and James Pritchett be appointed as escorts.
