Scope and Contents

92 photographs in a Ward's Album for Unmounted Photographs, No. 1743. Almost all of the photographs are captioned in the image; possibly translations into less than perfect English. Some of the smaller photos have been pasted in. A good number of the photos appear to be press photographs rather than snapshots taken by a serviceman.

Pictures include a German 3-seated bombing plane captured by the French after landing due to engine trouble; a picture of a German bomber causght in the spotlights while conducting a raid; a view of German trenches in the Hindenbutg section taken from a Fernch plane; a French plane downing a German observation balloon; several showing the wreckage of German planes and the bodies of their pilots; scenes of destruction in Cambrai ahnd Chateau Thierry; 2 French soldiers coming out of a shell hoel in no man's land after being there for ten hours; the wreckage of a German zeppelin; shots of German troops and officers; severl shots showing trenchees and the working of artillery emplacements; shot of the US Ambulance Service with French troops; a French tank leading an attack along the Marne.
