Biographical / Historical

The Vann family is a long standing name in the Cherokee Nation, dating back to the late 1700s. Herman Johnson Vann was clerk in the Canadian District of the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory in 1875, 1877, 1879, and 1881. He was judge in the Canadian District in 1891, 1893, and 1897.
