Scope and Contents Author Bruce McAllister researched the subject of stress-induced extra sensory perception (ESP) and the possibility of a CIA project rumored to have existed during the Vietnam Conflict in which possible uses of mind control were explored. He also gathered accounts of ESP experiences from numerous Vietnam veterans and contacted various government agencies (American and Vietnamese) for information. Scope and Contents The Tim O'Brien manuscripts consist of laser copy drafts of the short stories, “Ambush” (published in Boston Magazine, 1993), and “Underground Tests,” as well as the typed manuscript draft of the first chapter of an untitled novel-in-progress. The papers also include Houghton Miflin’s press packet for The Things They Carried.
