This collection is comprised of twenty photographs ranging in dates from 1866 -1917. Seventeen of the photos were taken during World War I, mostly of U.S. and European soldiers in uniform. The WWI photographs were taken in England, France, and Russia. Two other photos were taken in 1866 and 1867 respectively, one is of a man in civilian clothing, the other is of a man in military uniform. Among these papers, there is a photostatic copy of a communication from Gen. D. H. Cooper to Maj. S. P. Wilson, dated December 5, 1862, Scullyville. Some of the military matters deal with the "scattered Creeks" and Colonel Watie (Stand Watie?). Also listed are two letters dated June, 1863, between John J. Content Description
Four documents relating to the relationship between the Confederacy and the Cherokee Nation. The oldest dated 9 February 1861, Richmond, predates the Secession of Virginia. These papers are not in any order, and may just be transcriptions and translations of other documents. Articles 54 and 55 concern amnesty for Cherokees who committed crimes against the Confederacy. Authorizes payment to North Carolina Cherokees.
