The Elizabeth Jennings manuscripts consist of 39 notebooks and loose sheets of handwritten working drafts of approximately 2,225 poems, many with handwritten revisions, written between 1973 and 1992. The poems were said to be unpublished at the time of acquisition and cover a wide range of topics including artists, composers, and writers. Consists of 9 handwritten letters from Scannell (written while incarcerated in Brixton Prison, London) to Jo Scannell (his wife) dating from March to April, 1967. Also included are handwritten poems, radio scripts and plays, and an autobiographical piece, A Proper Gentlemen written in 11 notebooks and writing tablets, and individual sheets.
