biographical statement

Tulsa area businessman and collector who owned and operated Shleppey Outdoor Advertising. Later he owned a bookstore in Seattle. He was a lifelong acquirer of things, beginning when he was a child before 1920. His extensive collection of books, artifacts, and papers was bequeathed to the University of Tulsa by the Shleppey family following his death in September 1975.

"Princess Mary" Restaurant Vessel paper placemat. The S.S. Princess Mary was removed from active service in 1952 and turned into a floating restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Illustrated paper placemat shows the ship, includes the poem "A Gallant Lady - The S.S. Princess Mary" by J.B. Ball, and is specifically designed with poinsettia art and the phrase "Seasons Greetings from the Captain and Crew."
