Shleppey, John W., 1901-1975
biographical statement
Tulsa area businessman and collector who owned and operated Shleppey Outdoor Advertising. Later he owned a bookstore in Seattle. He was a lifelong acquirer of things, beginning when he was a child before 1920. His extensive collection of books, artifacts, and papers was bequeathed to the University of Tulsa by the Shleppey family following his death in September 1975.

Illustrated paper placemat in red and blue ink. Has an image of the restaurant vessel. Also has a poem, "A Gallant Lady" by J.B. Ball. A small cartoon character has a speech bubble that says "I'm Century Sam, and I'm rollin' out the old red carpet!" At the bottom, the placemat says VISIT B.C. IN '58 FOR THE CELEBRATION OF A CENTURY
