Letters between J. Howard Woolmer and Mark Jacobs, 1976-12-15, 1977-01-10

 Item — Box: 2, Folder: 3
Identifier: 1976.004.2.3.013

Scope and Contents

Letter 1, Jacobs to Woolmer: "We, my wife and I, are most grateful to you, Mr. Woolmer, for your kindness in your offer to us, through Mrs. Laura (Riding) Jackson, of possible assistance to us in our attempt to establish a living for ourselves in the second-hand book business. Your voluntering to help where there is a feasible way of helping is extraordinarily kind, and we thank you for it. It is good to have the friendship of Mrs. Jackson, and good to have the acquaintance of her friends through it."

Letter 2, Woolmer to Jacobs: "I'm not sure how much help I'm going to be to you. Advice is cheap as you know and rarely of much value. I started my own business in New York City in 1961 and believe me it was pretty much of a hit or miss, learn by doing, business for the first five or so years."
