National Guards taking Negroes to ball park for protection, 1921-06-01

 Item
Identifier: 1989.004.5.58
National Guards taking Negroes to ball park for protection. Race Riot at Tulsa June 1st 1921.

Scope and Contents

A photographic reproduction. There is a different copy of this image made as a postcard (1989.004.5.12). A large group of people are being escorted by several men in civilian attire with an automobile alongside. They have just crossed the tracks and are passing in front of the Continental Supply Co. (offices at 19 S. Main).

The title supplied by cataloger from the caption on the post card. Digital image has been modified from the original for clarity.

There are issues with this caption since while the Continental Supply Co. was on the south side of the tracks, the address is on the east side of the street. The structures in the rest of the image are also not consistant with this being that part of Main Street.

"G26 of 28" written on back of this photograph.
