Scope and Contents

The writings consist of research and manuscript materials relating to Glendinning's biography, A Unicorn Among Lions (1980). This material includes handwritten working notes and notes from interviews with Harold Acton, Cecil Beaton, Geoffrey Gorer, Alanah Harper, Elizabeth Salter, Francis Sitwell, and others; handwritten, typed and photocopied typescript drafts in several versions; photocopied reproductions of proposed illustrations; and a galley proof of the American edition.

The correspondence consists of 47 handwritten and typed letters to Glendinning from various individuals, institutions, and her publisher, Knopf, (including Harold Acton, Fr. Philip Caraman, Peter du Sautoy, Geoffrey Gorer, John Lehmann, Robert Liddell Lowe, Nigel Nicholson, Sacheverell Sitwell, Quentin Stevenson, and Allen Tanner); the correspondence from 1978-1980.
