Court record of the manor of Whitchurch, Shropshire. Surrender by William Hill of a house and seven and three quarters acres of land in Old Woodhouse to the use of William Burghall and the heirs of his body.

Scope and Contents

At the small court held there on the 20th day of January in the first year of the reign of Richard the III, William Hill came in his own person and yielded up into the hands of the Lord one messuage seven acres of land and a half of one acre of land and the fourth part of one acre of land with the appurtenancies in Old Woodhouse lately in the tenure of Thomas Hicson next the Wallmore to the use of William Burghall of Burghall and the heirs of his body lawfully procreated with remainder to the right heirs of the said William Burghall and his assigns forever. And moreover in the same court came the said William Burghall and received from the Lord the messuage land and tenements aforesaid to hold to him and the heirs of his body lawfully procreated with remainder to his right heirs and his assigns forever according to the custom of the manor by the services therefrom due, etc. And he gives to the Lord as a fine for entry 12 pence and he has performed this faithfully and therefore he has seisin.
