A broad range of subject matter depicted in 238 snapshots. Subjects include ground-based weaponry (French, German), observation balloons and Zeppelins (American, German); aeroplanes (German, American); naval vessels and ferries; ruins (France, Belgium, Germany); soldiers. Also among the collection are approximately 81 snapshots from a later period, circa 1935, of barracks, airplanes, airports, etc.

Scope and Contents 92 photographs in a Ward's Album for Unmounted Photographs, No. 1743. Almost all of the photographs are captioned in the image; possibly translations into less than perfect English. Some of the smaller photos have been pasted in. A good number of the photos appear to be press photographs rather than snapshots taken by a serviceman. Pictures include a German 3-seated bombing plane captured by the French after landing due to engine trouble; a picture of a German bomber causght...
