A collection pf papers, letters and ephemera relating to Charles Alfred Bredin. A Diary and some materials set during his time in Co. D, 317th Machine Gun Battalion, 81st Division, AEF during the first World War. He later served with the 15th Infantry Regt. in China. Correspondence with his fiance, Grace Manning (AKA Olivia Lee Bredin). Bredin was originally from New York, and later moved to Tulsa in the 1930s.

Scope and Contents This collection documents the time of Charles G. Aldrich and his time in Siberia from 1917-1920. Aldrich was with the American Army/Navy, YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association). The photos document his time in Vladivostok during the Civil War. There are photos of a few other areas, including his time aboard the ship America, etc., but the majority are of Vladivostok. Included are a couple pieces of ephemera (hand drawn card, and certificate from G. S. Phelps, National Secretary to Russia...

Approximately 600 letters, feldbriefs and feldpostcartes to and from Alois, Gottleib Jr., and Max--three sons serving in the German Army--and their family. Many letters are from France, approximately 130 of which are from Gottlieb Jr. written from an English POW camp.

The diary of Lieutenant Ed Granger from Aug 1917 through Jun 1919. Lt. Granger was a dentist and served the 138th Infantry Regt., 35th Infantry Div. Granger writes about his experiences in WWI. He trained at Camp Doniphan, Oklahoma.


A manuscript diary, written is dos-a dos fashion, several pages have been torn out.
