biographical statement

Tulsa area businessman and collector who owned and operated Shleppey Outdoor Advertising. Later he owned a bookstore in Seattle. He was a lifelong acquirer of things, beginning when he was a child before 1920. His extensive collection of books, artifacts, and papers was bequeathed to the University of Tulsa by the Shleppey family following his death in September 1975.

Scope and Contents Bimbo's 365 Club. 1025 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco, California. "Original home of the world famous Girl in the Fish Bowl as featured in Life Magazine." Apparently this was a gimmick unique to the restaurant. A series of projectors and mirrors would broadcast the live image of a nude woman, called "Dolphina," into a fishbowl at the restaurant entrance so that she appeared to be six inches tall and swimming in the aquarium.
