Biographical / Historical

Cicely Isabel Fairfield, known by her pen name Rebecca West. She was an English author, journalist, literary critic and travel writer. She was born on December 21, 1892, London. West wrote in many genres, and was committed to feminist and liberal principles. She had one son, Anthony West, with writer H.G. Wells. She wrote several novels and is noted for "The Return of the Soldier," and "The Fountain Overflows." She died on March 15, 1983 in London.
